Alvin Brunner is an Aviation Safety Inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Flight Standards Division, Southwest Region, Fort Worth TX. His Inspector duties primarily focus on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) integration into the National Airspace System. This includes a variety of duties ranging from policy formation, risk mitigation for Certificates of Authorization, to public relations. He is also the lead for the Flight Standards UAS Oversight and Compliance Focus Team. The UAS OCFT mission is to ensure communication of consistent and effective UAS policy and procedures for oversight and compliance management of UAS operations in the NAS. This team provides a single point of contact for field personnel and supports policy and procedures for UAS oversight and compliance of UAS operations in the NAS.

Inspector Brunner has a degree from Texas A&M University in Aerospace Engineering and a Master of Aeronautical Sciences from Embry-Riddle University. He is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel having served 26 years as a pilot and engineer. He joined the FAA in 2010 as one of the initial cadre of regional UAS Inspectors.
