Jethro Beck

As Vice President, Global Maritime Policy, Jethro works on behalf of CLIA’s oceangoing cruise line members in the areas of security, environmental sustainability, medical and public health, and travel facilitation. He also plays a key role representing the industry at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), including engagement at meetings of the IMO Intersessional Working Group on GHG Reduction and the Marine Environment Protection Committee.
Jethro joined CLIA in 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience, having served the industry in positions of increasing responsibility at sea and on shore, including shipyard management and command of large vessel fleets.
Born and raised in Scotland, Jethro began his maritime career at 16 years of age, joining an LNG tanker out of Brunei as an engineering apprentice. During the course of his career, over the past three decades, he has held leadership roles at a variety of large and small cruise companies, including head of Marine Operations supporting the launch of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Operations Director with Holland America Group, and Vice President of Marine Operations for American Queen Voyages. Notably, his seagoing career includes Command experience of large cruise vessels.
